K184 hanging scroll, sumi on paper 30.2 cm × 56.9 cm.

This Zenga, like that of Sengai, shows the rising sun over Fuji’s slope. The high mountain is a solid as can be, seemingly unchanged for thousands of years. The sun rises and sets every day, as it has for countless generations, bringing us the light of life.
